Child like joy is something I find I am always compelled to twist, and morph, until it is something dark. I feel that when it comes to fear, taking something as precious, as our school yard games, and making them perverse and evil… well nothing is scarier than that really. Imagine for a moment, that you are walking through a playground in that most odd hour of twilight. The darkness is creeping in on you from every direction, wrapping itself around you, whispering doubt into your ears. In the distance you see two small girls playing hopscotch, but instead of tossing a rock as a marker, they are tossing a human ear. It smacks against the black top with a most horrific plop. Over to your right a boy climbs up the jungle gym like a spider, all eight of his spindly legs moving with grace. His compound eyes lock onto yours and he smiles a fanged smile. To me the only thing more frightening than ruined innocence, are hospitals. But that’s a discussion for another day.
